    Shawn Henley Administrator

    Shawn Henley has been a dedicated member of the Colorado recovery community since his early adult years. He maintains a strong drive to carry the message to those still suffering from untreated alcoholism and drug addiction sharing his personal experience, strength, and hope. Shawn has a continuing education in human services with a concentration on addiction studies making him a wonderful asset among our clinical team as well as patients. A Colorado native, Shawn has made his purpose to provide a solution through services provided at Red Rock Recovery Center. As Administrator of Red Rock Recovery Center, Shawn handles all administrative duties for our facility while maintaining a supportive presence among our patients.

  • Dan Henley
    Dan Henley Director of Operations

    Daniel Henley has devoted his life to learning and carrying the message of hope to those afflicted by the ravages of drug addiction and alcoholism. He has worked in Drug and Alcohol Treatment in all different capacities and within different levels of care. Daniel has a passion for dedicating time and attention to get to know each patient on an individual basis, making him more effective in his role as Director of Operations at Red Rock Recovery Center. His personal experience in recovery has enabled him to understand and connect with families and clients alike. Being an advocate for the 12 step treatment model, Daniel uses his cumulative experience in the field to better help those seeking recovery and a new chance at life. At Red Rock Recovery Center Daniel maintains a great level of involvement, allowing him to uphold a high level of support throughout the patient’s stay at our program. Daniel’s mission is to bring another effective treatment model to his home state of Colorado.

  • Rourke Weaver
    Rourke Weaver Director of Business Development

    Rourke came on board as the Director of Business Development with Red Rock Recovery Center after 8 years of experience as the Colorado Chapter Manager at Phoenix Multisport. At Phoenix he helped open chapters in Denver, Colorado Springs, and California. He has lead, taught and developed programs like skiing, backpacking, climbing, and boxing and from there he helped develop the partnership program holding relationships across Colorado with Treatment Centers, Court/Government Agencies and community based programs. Being an advocate for Recovery and Recovery Support Services he has, and continues to, sit on groups like the Behavioral Health Planning Advisory Council, Colorado Heroin Project, Colorado Providers Association, 5280 High School, Denver Drug Strategy Committee and Colorado Substance Abuse Trends and Response Task Force.
    Having been sober since April 12, 2007 Rourke brings a deep passion and understanding for the struggling addict/alcoholic with him to work on a daily basis. Rourke is Native of Colorado, where he continues to reside and participate in various outdoor and active communities including Brazilian jiu jitsu, mountain biking and especially the recovery community at large.

  • Sam Cone
    Sam Cone Director of Community Outreach

    Sam Cone has been working in residential treatment for 3 years years. He uses both his personal, and professional experience to share a message deeply rooted in twelve step recovery. After an extensive period working in drug and alcohol treatment in Prescott, Arizona Sam moved to Colorado and has been an influential part of the start up, and continued growth of Red Rock Recovery since day one. During his time off, Sam enjoys volunteer work and stays active in the Colorado outdoor community.

MEDICAL STAFF

  • Arshad William M.D.
    Arshad William M.D. Medical Director

    Dr. William received his medical degree from University of Benin College of Medicine. He was Chief Resident at the University at Harlem Hospital Center, College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia.

    Dr. William is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) and Member of the Colorado Psychiatric Society.

  • Ali Selenke
    Ali Selenke Registered Nurse

    Ali graduated with a bachelors of nursing degree from Allen College in Iowa. Soon after she moved to Colorado and began working in a hospital providing acute care for patients suffering from addiction and mental health issues in December 2013. She found her passion for helping those afflicted by addiction when she was transferred to the chemical dependency unit. Ali works closely with clients at Red Rock Recovery Center to assess and treat medical needs, additionally she provides valuable insight to clients about nutrition, communicable diseases, and overall physical health.

  • Elizabeth Patzau-Sedgeley, LCSW, MAC
    Elizabeth Patzau-Sedgeley, LCSW, MAC Clinical Program Director

    Elizabeth ‘Lia’ Patzau is the Clinical Program Director for Red Rocks Recovery Center. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Susquehanna University in Sociology/Human Services. Lia is a Certified Addiction Counselor III and has a certification in Trauma Recovery from the University of Denver. Her passion for working in the field of substance abuse and mental health has been in existence for the past 12 years and includes experience working with various populations and cultures. Lia primarily approaches the client using cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, and motivational interviewing. Her professional experiences combined with 13 years of addiction recovery and engagement in 12-step programs focuses on therapeutic growth and inspiration for the mind, body, and spirit.

  • Jan Burns, LCSW, LAC
    Jan Burns, LCSW, LAC Assistant Clinical Supervisor

    Jan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addiction Counselor who completed her bachelors in Social Work at Metropolitan State College in Denver. where she focused on addiction recovery.  She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver.  Jan has over 20 years of clinical experience working in the field of substance abuse and mental health.  Jan’s work has been primarily with adults, teens and families.  She has worked extensively in outpatient substance abuse programs, youth corrections and criminal justice programs.   Jan’s primary therapeutic approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt, experiential, strength-based therapy, and motivational interviewing.  She is a Colorado native and is a passionate participant of 12-step programs and Phoenix Multisport, sharing her story to help inspire others to choose recovery.

  • Tristan Beymer, LCSW
    Tristan Beymer, LCSW Assistant Clinical Supervisor, Equine Therapist

    Tristan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who completed her bachelors in Human Service Counseling at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she focused on addiction recovery and family studies. After graduation, Tristan was accepted into the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work where she became certified as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Trauma Recovery. Tristan utilizes her dynamic background to focus on the diverse issue surrounding addiction and trauma related issues. Part of the unique therapy approach Tristan provides is her ability to care and walk with individuals through some of the toughest challenges while in treatment. Clients are encouraged to build a strong foundation which enables them to process through tough issues without being overcome by them. Through AEDP, CBT, attachment and mindfulness techniques, clients are given a safe place to recover and overcome what they face in treatment and make meaning of the life they are meant to live outside of their addiction.

  • Larry Dunlap, CAC III
    Larry Dunlap, CAC III Primary Therapist

    Larry is a Primary therapist at Red Rock Recovery Center. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Regis University in Psychology. He has a CACIII certification through the state of Colorado. He has been working in the substance abuse treatment field in inpatient and outpatient programs since 1987. He is very invested in providing quality, professional care while working with the clients to reach their objectives. His treatment focus is client based, using cognitive behavioral treatment. He is strength based in his approach to working with his clients.

  • Sydney Duran, MSW
    Sydney Duran, MSW Primary Therapist

    Sydney completed her bachelors in social work as well as her masters of social work at Colorado State University. Sydney is working toward licensure as clinical social worker. Throughout her education, Sydney spent time immersing herself in the mental health field, serving youth with severe mental health disorders and cognitive abilities. Sydney has a history of working with HIV/AIDS population as well as IV drug users. This which struck her interest to begin working with those recovering in addiction. Sydney gleaned a great deal of experience working in residential treatment programs aimed at serving young adults facing criminal, mental health, and substance use issues.
    Sydney is excited to be a part of Red Rock Recovery Center which is providing an incredible learning environment not only because of their collaborative clinical team but their systemic approach to treatment as organization.

  • Kevin Petersen, MFT-C
    Kevin Petersen, MFT-C Family Therapist

    Kevin Petersen is a dedicated, caring, and understanding professional whose work with families in crisis is both crucial, and steadfast in the scope of families in crisis. Kevin’s beginnings in education involved getting a bachelors from USC, before his own personal journey and passions led him to seek deeper fulfillment by way of tending to the needs of both families and individuals in exigency. Kevin has earned a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and has a Certificate in Child and Adolescent Counseling, and has been working as a therapist for Arapahoe Douglas Mental Health Network in Child and family Services since 2011. In that time, he has counseled hundreds of family members, and helped them find both a listening ear, and supportive measures to set their feet firmly on a healing path.

  • Darrin Miller, BA, CAC II
    Darrin Miller, BA, CAC II Primary Therapist

    Darrin completed his bachelors degree in Psychology at the University of Iowa before moving to Colorado in 2010 to pursue a masters degree in Counseling at Regis University. Darrin is working toward licensure in professional counseling and addiction while maintaining his level II certification in addiction counseling. Darrin honed his skills through working with adolescents as a youth counselor before acquiring specialization in the field of addiction during his tenure in residential drug and alcohol treatment. Darrin is excited bring his enthusiasm and creativity to the Red Rock Recovery Center team to serve young adults struggling with life and addiction. Darrin is a proud alumnus of the University of Iowa who is grateful to call Colorado home!

  • Kristin Doherty
    Kristin Doherty Yoga and Meditation Instructor

    Kristin Doherty, RYT 500 created Downward Dog Upward Spirits, LLC with the sole intention of working exclusively with clients in addiction treatment centers and mental wellness facilities. Kristin’s goal and passion is to create space for clients’ healing journeys and to provide them with tools to build resiliency and regulate their nervous systems during times of stress. Yoga provides a gentle path for working through “the issues in the tissues” in order to not only live in our bodies but to thrive in the process. A comprehensive program treats the whole person, and Red Rock Recovery Center honors the mind, body, and spirit by including yoga.

    Kristin has her Master’s in Education from the University of Denver, Colorado. She is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Additional certifications include Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Y12SR.

  • Kayla Esparza
    Kayla Esparza Office Manager

    Kayla has been working in addiction treatment for 8 years as an office manager. Her passion and drive to watch individuals grow in their recovery stems from her experience watching members of her family struggle with active addiction. She also enjoys engaging with clients and hearing their stories. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her two dogs.

  • Heather Henley
    Heather Henley Office Manager

    Heather Henley has been working in residential treatment since 2014. She started out working in housing management, where she worked with clients one-on-one and developed her passion to help others battling addiction and alcoholism. Heather’s attention to detail and personal experience in recovery allows her to give clients optimal care. She loves seeing clients gain tools from the treatment facility and the 12 Step Program to seek and maintain long term sobriety.

  • Shelbey Thomas
    Shelbey Thomas Assistant Program Director

    Shelbey Thomas, a Colorado native, strives to find purpose in life and share it with others. She is committed to helping women fight the battle of alcoholism and drug addiction to discover a new sense of freedom. Starting with Red Rocks from the beginning, Shelbey has worked in different aspects of the treatment field and spreads the message, not only to the women here, but in her own 12 step recovery. She has the understanding of what it’s like to become hopeless and broken, now having the amazing opportunity to give her experience, strength and most important, hope to those that need it. Her passion is to create new chapters in life and to never give up.

  • Matt Holmes
    Matt Holmes Activities Coordinator

    Matt has experienced the natural world as a place to find serenity and strength since he was very young. He seeks to bring this source of healing and inspiration to others with his work at Red Rock Recovery Center. Matt studied adventure education and wilderness therapy at Prescott College and is currently working to qualify as a Certified Addiction Counselor. His twelve-plus years of experience in outdoor adventure programming have included leading month-long backpacking expeditions in the Sierras and Death Valley. Some of Matt’s other interests include emergency and wilderness medicine, whitewater canoeing, and climbing; climbing is one of his most enduring passions because of the unique combination of physical and mental demands required to safely and successfully negotiate vertical terrain. He looks forward to sharing his skills and experience and continuing to learn and grow.
